4/17: Bus trip to see A Beautiful Noise on Broadway!

A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical
Wed., April 17, 2024, Matinee
Broadhurst Theatre, 235 West 44th Street, NYC

A Beautiful Noise brings the hits you love to life like you’ve never seen!
the songs you know. the true story you’ve never heard — until now.
Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, A Beautiful Noise is the uplifting true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became a chart-busting, show-stopping American rock icon. With 140 million albums sold, a catalog of classics like “America,” “Forever in Blue Jeans,” and “Sweet Caroline,” an induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and sold-out concerts around the world that made him bigger than Elvis, Neil Diamond’s story was made to shine on Broadway, where the biggest stars tell their story.

Like Jersey Boys and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical before it, A Beautiful Noise is an inspiring, exhilarating, energy-filled musical memoir, that tells the untold true story of how America’s greatest hitmaker became a star, set to the songs that defined his career.

https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_IhHjiqZARNmRqdXSR9KxFQ
Please join us for the AAUW National Inclusion & Equity Committee webinar on inclusion policies and practices. The webinar is designed to aid local branches and states as they explore various national policies and bylaws of AAUW national, featuring the resources available in AAUW’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Toolkit. The webinar provides an informative look at several national policies and practices, including the soon-to-be-announced member civility policy.

2. School Boards: The Battleground for the Education Culture Wars
Wed., Feb. 7, 2024, 7 PM ET
https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Y2RuiP5PSNuey04jKNymAA
Across the country, we have seen school boards, and candidates for school boards, taking up controversial policies that have led to banning books from school libraries; the censorship of curriculum in school classrooms due to individuals finding content “objectionable”; and policies leading to the prevention of safe school climates for students of all sexual orientations and gender identities . Please join us for an AAUW National Public Policy Committee webinar to learn how one AAUW state board is fighting back and what you can do locally.

If you have questions about either webinar, please reach out to Robin Lucas (lucasr@aauw.org), Grassroots Advocacy Manager, and Meghan Kissell (kissellm@aauw.org), Senior Director of Policy & Member Advocacy.

Kimberly Akimbo
The winner of more Tony Awards than any other show this season!

Kimberly Akimbo is the Tony Award-winning Best Musical about growing up and growing old — in no particular order. It features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize and two-time Tony Award winner David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole), music by two-time Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home), choreography by Danny Mefford (Dear Evan Hansen), and direction by award-winning director Jessica Stone.

Kimberly (two-time Tony Award winner Victoria Clark) is about to turn 16 and recently moved with her family to a new town in suburban New Jersey. In this “howlingly funny heartbreaker of a show” (The New Yorker), Kim is forced to navigate family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition, her first crush, and possible felony charges. Ever the optimist, she is determined to find happiness against all odds and embark on a great adventure.

Lunch: On your own or join the group lunch.
Restaurant near the theatre to be determined and paid separately in the near future.
