This year, we will have Kathryn Gordon and Clark Oliver from the New York State Office for Prevention of Domestic Violence as our keynote speakers.
The New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence is the nation’s only Cabinet-level executive state agency dedicated solely to improving the state’s response to and prevention of domestic violence.
Kathryn Gordon (she/her) is the Deputy Executive Director for External Affairs at OPDV. A seasoned Government affairs specialist, Ms. Gordon brings with her more than twenty years of experience working in and around state government, including the New York State Legislature and non-profit organizations.
Prior to that, she served as the legislative director for two state senators. Her experience includes leading advocacy and public awareness campaigns and negotiating legislative and regulatory changes for women, physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, older adults, and people with disabilities.
Throughout her career, her passion for advocacy and supporting others has been witnessed in her volunteer activity with multiple task forces and nonprofits, including the Food as Medicine Coalition, Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center, the American Diabetes Association, and Breakthrough T1F (formerly JDRF).
Kathryn earned a master’s degree in public administration at Rockefeller College at SUNY Albany. She resides in New York’s Capital Region with her son and their family of feline and canine beasts.
Clark Oliver is the Assistant Director of External Affairs at OPDV, and has worked in and around government, politics, and public policy for nearly a decade. He was first hired at OPDV in 2023 to work on a project to improve outcomes for survivors navigating the child support system. Prior to this role, he served two terms on the Otsego County Board of Representatives, where he was the youngest elected legislator in county history. In this capacity, he served as vice chair of the Human Services Committee and played an integral role in navigating the county through the COVID-19 pandemic. He has also worked on numerous political campaigns and held various leadership positions in local party politics, including as Chair of the county party.
Mr. Oliver earned his Master of Public Administration from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy. He holds a B.A. in International Development Studies from SUNY Oneonta where he was awarded the Arnold S. Harris Award for significant academic achievement with a career interest in public service.
